Paul Hlad is a litigation attorney with a broad range of experience. Since starting practice 20 years ago, Paul has defended medical and professional malpractice cases. His experience also encompasses the defense of commercial, products liability, premises liability, fraud and trucking matters. Mr. Hlad started practicing in a small boutique law firm that provided only medical and legal malpractice defense services where his first attorney mentor reminded him often that it was a steep learning curve from law school to private practice. Fast forward 20 years, and Mr. Hlad has tried over 50 cases to verdict in North Carolina and Virginia, to include professional liability cases, products liability cases, and general liability cases.

Paul has also lectured on a range on topics throughout the Southeastern United States on issues including medical malpractice, premises liability, products liability, sovereign immunity, bad faith/extra-contractual claims, ethics and negligence principles.

Paul received his law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is licensed in both North Carolina and Virginia. While in law school, he and another law student started an online automobile resale company that is still being operated today. In his free time, he is a deacon in his local church and serves on the board of directors of Samaritan Health Center, which provides free medical care in Durham. He and his wife are working through the fun of teenagers and watching the Tar Heels and Ole Gators play whatever is in season while taking lots of walks with their dog.
